Amalfi
Amalfi is the most central town on the Amalfi Coast. If you're travelling by bus, you'll need to change here – all bus routes end in Amalfi. That’s why it’s the easiest place to reach. You may even spot world-famous celebrities in this little paradise.

What to See in Amalfi
The town of Amalfi lies in a valley surrounded by mountains. On the map at the bottom of the page, you’ll find the main attractions of Amalfi and a walking route through the town leading to the Paper Museum. Tourists visit this museum because it was one of the first places in Europe to produce paper – as early as the 12th century. The tour lasts about 20 minutes. If you continue further up the road, you can reach Torre dello Ziro – an ancient tower with panoramic views of the coastline.
The central square of Amalfi is the most popular spot for tourists. Here you’ll find a fountain, plenty of bars and cafés where you can try local dishes and taste liqueurs such as limoncello, meloncello and others. The main architectural landmarks of the town are also located on this square – the Cathedral of Saint Andrew (9th century) and the Cloister of Paradise.
Beach in Amalfi
Amalfi Beach is small but one of the most popular. There’s a small free section, but even there it’s hard to find a spot during the season. From the nearby pier, you get panoramic views of Amalfi, making it a perfect photo spot.
What to See Near Amalfi
If you enjoy hiking, walk up to Torre dello Ziro. This tower stands on the mountain ridge between Amalfi and Atrani. The hike takes about an hour one way, and you can return via the trail to Atrani. The route to the tower is marked on the map.
If hiking is not for you, take a walk through the tunnel to Atrani – the smallest village in southern Italy. It’s so compact that the road runs directly over the rooftops of the houses.
You can also visit the Grotta dello Smeraldo cave. Tours depart by boat directly from Amalfi. It’s also possible to reach the cave by bus towards Positano, but the boat trip is much more scenic.
