How to get to Capri and island guide
Capri is a small rocky island of volcanic origin, separated from the mainland by a deep underwater trench. It was formed millions of years ago and has a very different landscape compared to the Amalfi Coast – steep cliffs, rock formations, and panoramic views make it unique.

What Makes Capri Island Special?
Since the 19th century, Capri has been a holiday destination for aristocrats and celebrities. Today you can often see luxury yachts and famous tourists here. Although the island is small, there are two towns:
Capri town – busier, with restaurants, shops, and main attractions.
Anacapri – quieter, higher up, closer to nature and panoramic views.
The only way to reach Capri is by boat. Ferries and boats leave from Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi. You can check the schedule and prices on Direct Ferries or Ferryhopper.
How to Get to Capri, Where to Stay and Park
Tourists are not allowed to drive cars on Capri. Only local residents can use cars on the island. If you arrive from the mainland, it’s best to park your car in Sorrento, where you’ll find convenient parking, including paid parking lots right by the port.
Some tourists visit Capri just for a day, but this is not enough to enjoy the island properly. Capri is better explored slowly – stay for at least 2–3 nights. Keep in mind that hotels on the island are more expensive than in Sorrento. You can check available offers on this website.
