Western Capri: Anacapri, panoramas and villas

Anacapri is the second town on Capri Island, located higher and quieter than Capri town. You can easily reach it by bus or taxi directly from Marina Grande port or the island centre. The western part of the island offers panoramas, trails, villas, and a peaceful atmosphere. There are fewer tourists, fewer stairs, and more nature here.

What to See

Monte Solaro is the highest point on Capri Island, 589 metres above sea level. You can go up by chairlift from Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri (only 13 minutes ride). At the top, there is a viewpoint overlooking the entire island, Naples, and the Amalfi Coast. You can also walk down along a scenic trail.

Villa San Michele is the famous house of Swedish doctor Axel Munthe. The villa was built on the ruins of a Roman imperial residence. Today it features a museum, garden, and terrace with views of the bay. This is one of the most atmospheric places in Anacapri.

Punta Carena is a cape with a lighthouse and beach area, one of the best spots for swimming and watching sunsets. Locals recommend coming here in the afternoon. There are sun terraces, a bar, and easy access to the rocks. You can get here by bus.

Hotels in Anacapri

Anacapri is a perfect place for a peaceful stay. There are fewer tourists and less noise, and hotel prices can be a bit lower than in Capri town. You will find small boutique hotels, villas, and family-run guesthouses with a warm atmosphere.
