Path of the Gods
The Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) is one of the most famous and scenic hiking trails on the Amalfi Coast. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea, mountains, cliffs, and Positano, with small villages far below.

Path of the Gods Route
Trail length is about 7 km (4.3 miles), and it takes around 3 hours one way. The trail starts in Bomerano (Agerola) and ends in Nocelle, a small village near Positano. It’s better to walk from Bomerano to Nocelle – this way you go mostly downhill and enjoy the views in front of you.
Trail difficulty: moderate. The path is well-marked but sometimes narrow and rocky, so wear comfortable shoes.
How to Get to the Trail Start
You can reach Bomerano (Agerola) by bus from Amalfi. You can also hike up from Praiano or Fiordo di Furore – the climb takes about one to one and a half hours. Bus stops and all routes are marked on the map at the bottom of the page.
How to Return After the Trail
At the end of the trail you will arrive in the village of Nocelle. From here, you can take a bus directly to Positano or walk down the stairs to the main road (about 1500 steps, around 30 minutes), where buses run towards Positano (and continue to Sorrento) or towards Amalfi. You can also take a taxi or walk about 1 hour to the centre of Positano.
Path of the Gods Route Map
The main route is shown in blue on the map below. This is the real GPS track of the trail, so in some places the line has many turns, and stops are shown as clusters of points. Additional hiking paths from places like Praiano and Fiordo di Furore are marked in red.
