Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana) is one of the most scenic places in Italy, stretching for 50 km (31 miles) along the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is famous for its natural beauty, steep cliffs, colourful houses, lemon groves, beaches and charming villages. It's a perfect destination for a trip through Italy, a romantic holiday or a food and wine tour.

Main Towns of the Amalfi Coast
The most famous towns in the region are Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. Positano is a vibrant cascade of houses descending towards the sea, with narrow streets, boutiques, and beaches. Amalfi is a former maritime republic, known for its beautiful cathedral and rich history. Ravello is a peaceful town with villas, gardens, and breathtaking views from above.
We also recommend visiting:
Atrani – the smallest town in Italy,
Minori and Maiori – known for their large beaches,
Vietri sul Mare – famous for its ceramics,
Praiano – perfect for a quiet and secluded stay,
Agerola – a mountain village, the starting point of the Path of the Gods.
At both ends of the coast there are two larger cities: Sorrento in the west and Salerno in the east. They serve as the main transport hubs for exploring the region.
Nearby Cities
While staying on the Amalfi Coast, you can easily take day trips to other famous destinations. The island of Capri – the jewel of the Tyrrhenian Sea, known for the Blue Grotto and the emperor’s villa.
Other places worth visiting include: Pompeii and Vesuvius – the ancient city and volcano, Paestum – an archaeological park with Greek temples, and Naples and Rome – cultural and historical capitals.
