When to Visit the Amalfi Coast - season and weather
The Amalfi Coast is especially beautiful in spring and autumn. The best months to visit are May, June, and September. The sea is warm, the weather is pleasant, and there are far fewer tourists compared to the peak season.
Summer Holidays on the Amalfi Coast
July and August are the peak season with the warmest and sunniest weather. This is the best time for beach holidays, but be prepared for large crowds and high hotel prices. It gets especially busy in mid-August (15 August is Ferragosto, a national holiday in Italy), when most Italians are on vacation and the whole coast becomes crowded.
Autumn Season on the Amalfi Coast
September is the perfect month: the sea is warm, there are fewer tourists, and the weather still feels like summer. October can be rainy, especially in the second half of the month, but if the weather is good, it’s a quiet and budget-friendly time to visit.
Spring on the Amalfi Coast
April and May are a great time for walks and sightseeing. Public transport and ferries are already running, and everything is in bloom. The sea is still cool in April, but by late May it becomes warm enough for swimming.
Is It Worth Visiting the Amalfi Coast in Winter?
From November to March is the low season. Many hotels, restaurants, and ferries are closed. It’s not the best time for beach holidays, but perfect for quiet walks and low prices.
